The highest point of Arun valley trek is Salpa Bhanjyang. Arun valley trek starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and ends at Lukla, then fly back Lukla to Kathmandu. There are not tea house (lodges) in Arun valley hence; due to its isolation and lack of tea houses this area still receives few trekkers. February to May and August to December is the best season for Arun valley trek.

Flight to Tumlingtar is the best option to trek around Makalu region which is absolutely wonderful and still virgin area to the northwest corner of the Sankhuwasabha district. Makalu region is surrounded by very beautiful views such as west side is bordered by Mt. Everest, North is Tibet, Arun River at East and Sabha River at south. Also in early 90’s the region is devoted to national park and conservation.

Tumlingtar is only Airport in Sankhuwasabha district at 2700 ft elevation surrounded by a breath taking panorama and takes 25 min to fly from Kathmandu. Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines operate regular flight to Tumlingtar. This flight can be worth for Everest trek also by the Salpa Pass route.
